This season is mercifully coming to an end. Not only have my Irish taken the gas on the field, but Mikey stomped out any hope of saving face with another great week last week. I'm just totally deflated. Time for one last regular season go around.
Mattare's Lock of the Week: Houston (-1) over East Carolina
Crappy passing defense meets one of the most prolific passers in D-I and only gives one point. Seems iffy to me.
West Virginia (PK)...Last time I saw Rutgers they were getting stomped by Syracuse. West Virginia wins by more points than Noel Devine has kids (Is it 3? Is it 7? You just can't be sure).
Cincy (-2)...I'm not impressed by Pitt or their homefield advantage, not even a little. Only thing that could go wrong is a totally distracted Cincy team. But seriously, who is picking Wanny in a big game? Morons, that's who.
Illinois (PK)...It's an emotional end to the Juice Williams era.
Georgia Tech (PK)...I just think the Jackets are going to grind out a W.
Nebraska +14.5...Nebraska's D will give the 'Horns some trouble. And in case you haven't noticed, this title game has a history of huge upsets (Texas '96, Texas A&M '98, K-State '03).
USC -7...The Trojans remind Arizona they're still the boss.
Alabama +5...ROLLLLLLLLL TIIIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDEEEE
Boise St -47...Yeah, you heard me. I'm not afraid of those points.
South Florida +7.5...UConn plays heartstoppers. I'll take the points.
Mikey's Lock of the Week: Rutgers (Pk) over West Virginia
Rutgers has been on a pretty good run lately and West Virginia just left everything they had on the filed in a dogfight with Pitt. The Scarlet Knights will end the regular season on a good note.
Oregon St. (+10.5)- Best game in college football. The Beavers are way too good to be getting so many points in this rivalry, look for it to be decided by one score or less.
Cincinnati (+1.5)- I know there's a huge distraction with Brian Kelly possibly leaving, but I can't believe that the Cats have come this far to give up now. This is going to be a great game but Cincy will pull it out and keep their title dreams alive.
Houston (-1)- Another team that has come too far, Houston will put up 60 and waltz into a good bowl.
Florida (-5)- The real BCS title game. I never pick against Tim Tebow, the streak continues.
Washington (+5.5)- The Huskies have Jake Locker for 1 more game and need to enjoy it.
Clemson (PK)- Georgia Tech needs Calvin Johnson back.
Wisconsin (-11.5)- This line should be 30.
Illinois (Pk)- Juice Williams will be flowing down the field all day against Fresno.
Arizona (+7)- USC are like the Patriots of college football, underachievers with a bad D. Zona will throw bombs all day on the porous Trojans defense.

THE BODOGS ARE BARKIN: Week 12 Picks
It only took a shade under three months but I finally had a good week. Unfortunately it appears to be too little too late in terms of catching up with Miguel...unless he uncorks a nice little 0-10 week. Anyone that knows Mikey and his gambling history can confirm this is entirely possible. The fact that the movie 2012 came out the same season that he is 10 games above .500 picking college football games is no coincidence.
Also, on a quick side note, a congratulations to Bill who just became an Uncle for the first time. On to the Turkey Day picks!
Mattare's Lock of the Week: Navy (-8.5) over Hawaii
The #3 rushing team in the country meets the 103rd ranked rushing defense. How do you say "steamrolled" in Hawaiian?
Ilinois +21...I have no idea if he will end up being named Notre Dame's coach next week but I can't believe that Brian Kelly is totally focused on this game (see: Rodriguez, Rich in 2007 going into the Backyard Brawl).
West Virginia PK...The Mountaineers are the ones playing the spoiler this year.
Missouri -3.5...Kansas has totally folded up shop. The Tigers roll and send Mangino out with a big, juicy, delicious loss to chew on.
South Carolina +2.5...How many times have I said I'll never pick South Carolina again this season? Ol' Ball Coach, I wish I knew how to quit you.
Boston College -6...I feel dirty every time I pick BC, but the Terps are really, reeeeeally bad.
Notre Dame +10...Not saying we're going to win (I don't think we will), but looking at what's happened this entire year I don't think Stanford is 10 points better than us.
Rutgers -3...Louisville stinks and Kragthorpe is a lame duck. How the hell are they only three point dogs?
Virginia +16...This is going to play out a lot like last week. The 'Hoos won't really be in the game, but there are just too many points being thrown around in a rivalry game.
Texas -20...This used to be such a dangerous game for the Longhorns at Kyle Field. Unfortunately for A&M, their vaunted Wrecking Crew defenses of yesteryear are not taking the field today. This year's defensive outfit is ranked 110th against the pass and 100th in total defense. Texas sports the second ranked scoring offense and seventh ranked scoring defense. Blowout Central.
Mikey's Lock of the Week: South Carolina (+2.5) over Clemson
The Gamecocks are like Rodney Dangerfield- absolutely no respect. I am guaranteeing they pound Clemson on Saturday or we'll do the first official blog webcast featuring me eating my Xavier hat.
Colorado St. (-3)- I think the fans are going to have a rodeo after this game ends regardless of the outcome. Who cares about football in Wyoming??
Nebraska (-8)- Bo Pelini needs this win to get a decent bowl and keep his seat cool for the next season or two. Nebraska is definitely the superior team and I think they'll have a good showing in Boulder.
Pittsburgh (PK)- Got to love the backyard brawl. This year's edition is pretty huge and both teams are solid but I'll go with the team thats come so far this season and doesn't want to waste a BCS shot.
Boise St. (-10)- I haven't watched Nevada since Notre Dame trounced them in Week 1. Needless to say that's what I'm basing this pick on.
Mississippi St. (+7)- Ole Miss won their biggest game of the year last week beating LSU while Miss St. is still searching for something to make this season memorable. I think they get it on Saturday by taking down their rival.
Arizona (-2)- Still love the Cats even after losing that barn-burner with Oregon last weekend. Their offense is ridiculous when it's on and I think they'll bring everything they have to Phoenix this weekend.
Florida St. (+21)- I remember when Florida was always a dog in this game. Bobby Bowden probably doesn't but I think the Noles keep it relatively close on the field while Bowden connects the dots in his coloring book on the sidelines.
Miami (-1)- Can't believe this line is only 1. The U is light years ahead of South Florida on the football field and I think they show it on Saturday and end the regular season right.
Kansas (+3.5)- Todd Reesing deserves a good send off after the career he's had at Kansas. Missouri's good but I think the Jayhawks find one last, good game and pull out a victory.
YEAR TO DATE STANDINGS
Mattare: 54 points...(7-3 last week, 1-0 lock...47-57-6 overall, 7-3-1 lock)

THE BODOGS ARE BARKIN: Week 11 Picks
I feel like Miguel Cotto getting tossed around like a rag doll by Manny Pacquiao. It was another brutal week and Mikey has just kicked it into overdrive to widen the gap to as big as it's been all year. I wish I had something funny or clever to say, but I'm just totally defeated.
Mattare’s Lock of the Week: Penn State (-3) over Michigan State
Sparty is not a very good team. I know, neither is Penn State, but they’ve got more than enough juice to take care of business in East Lansing.
Maryland +18…I mean I know Maryland is really bad, but Florida State shouldn’t be giving 18 points to anyone right now. The only exception would of course be BYU.
Texas Tech +6.5…Maybe—just MAYBE—if Oklahoma loses enough Bob Stoops will be our coach next year.
Indiana +3…I have met a staggering number of people who have not seen the movie Hoosiers. If you even remotely like sports that’s inexcusable.
Virginia +21…Al Groh is like Jason from the Friday the 13th movies. It seems like he’d dead in the water right now and Virginia boosters can’t be happier, but before you know it he’ll upset Clemson and Tech to save his job and set the process back another year.
Air Force +10…Because I can’t go a week without picking a service academy…and I still vividly remember the whooping the Criminoles gave BYU .
Arizona +6…The ‘Cats got caught looking ahead last week but I really think they give the Ducks a fight tomorrow night.
Texas -27.5…I hope that Texas drives the Jayhawks into the ground for being such sensitive cry babies. Every person who has come out and said Magino “verbally abused them” needs to go to Paris Island and learn how to bury those feelings and be a man.
Kansas State +16.5…Nebraska is good enough to give that many points.
Minnesota +10.5…Iowa stinks.
Mikey's Lock of the Week: Michigan (+12) over Ohio State
Got to love all those points in the biggest rivalry in college football. Michigan's at least talented enough to hang with the Buckeyes and it wouldn't surprise me if they got some calls and beat them outright.
Texas Tech (+5)- Oklahoma is the most inconsistent team in the country week to week. It seems like they only play hard at home to impress their fans and then go into hibernation on the road. I just want to hear Mike Leach's postgame speech either way, he's one of the top 10 comedians i the nation today.
Notre Dame (-6.5)- Yet again no reason to explain picking the Irish, just a glutton for punishment I guess.
TCU (-28)- This is a big line on the road but TCU knows they have to impress every week if they want a shot at the title. I think that motivation (along with Wyoming's terrible team) gives the Frogs the cover.
Indiana (+3.5)- Another Big 10 rivalry game this weekend. IU has got to pull out a win in one of these close games they keep playing and nothing would be more satisfying then closing their season with a win over Purdue.
Texas A&M (-7)- The Aggies can score in bunches, but only against bad defenses. Baylor definitely qualifies as a bad defense.
Fresno St. (-10)- Fresno has a ton of talent on their roster, especially on the offensive side of the ball. I don't think La Tech will stop them all night (unless they bring back Karl Malone to play linebacker) as they have to travel across the country for a conference game.
Oregon (-5)- Both teams have big rivalry games next week so this is a hard one to call. I still like the Ducks alot so I'll give them the edge in this one over a good Arizona team.
Oklahoma St. (-14)- This one will be over by half. Ok St. still has an explosive offense even without Dez Bryant and they'll show it off at home as they roll the Buffs.
South Florida (-10.5)- The Bulls are a much different team at home than they are on the road. They'll make up for that pounding at Rutgers by shutting out Louisville, who couldn't score if they played in the arena league.

THE BODOGS ARE BARKIN: Week 10 Picks
Last weekend was a complete disaster on all accounts. Not only did Navy whip Notre Dame and send the Irish program into a tailspin, but Mikey unleashed his best week in the two years we've been doing weekly picks (8-2 with lock) and I laid my biggest egg (2-7-1 with no lock). His lead is becoming insurmountable and the success he's had in the gambling world this year (he also took 3 out of 4 of the golf major pools we did and whipped me on the Super Bowl) leads me to believe that the Apocalypse is near. Just get me to the end of the season, it's time to cut losses.
Also, the Irish have lost all three times I put them in my picks. You've got a better chance of me wearing a Matt Leinart jersey than you do of seeing them in the picks again.
Mattare's Lock of the Week: Indiana (+25) over Penn State
This is a lot of points to be giving a pretty good Indiana team. Read Billy's comments on the weekend--PSU is totally deflated and the Hoosiers are fighting and clawing for bowl eligibility.
Michigan +9...Consider me unimpressed thus far with Wisky. I hope the Skunkbears lose, but I think RichRod finds a way to hang with them.
Michigan St +1...I've seen both teams. Michigan State is better.
Iowa +17...Iowa's defense is good enough to keep it within two touchdowns. Unless their luck not only ran out last week but is headed the other direction. If that's the case they'll probably lose 77-0
Washington +12...Wow, things have really headed south after a promising start for U-Dub haven't they? I still think they're a good team--give me Locker and the points.
LSU -24...Time to take out all the anger from the bad calls the Bama on La Tech.
Utah +19.5...I think TCU takes care of business but I'll take the points.
Arizona +2...No respect for the Wildcats who are still right in the thick of the Rose Bowl hunt. BEAR DOWN!
NC State +8...Predicting that a Clemson game is going to be close really isn't much of a stretch.
Miami -3...Carolina's offense marches it over midfield like twice a game. Their defense is good but if they want to win they better hold the Canes to somewhere in the range of 10-14. I don't think they can do it.
Mikey's Lock of the Week: Mississippi St. (+13) over Alabama
Miss St. plays tough in big games (ask LSU, Florida) and I don't see why they won't do the same against Alabama. The Tide are prime to overlook this week after beating LSU and with the SEC title game approaching so I expect this one to be close.
Cincinnati (-10)- The Bearcats seem to get less respect with every win they get. Doesn't make any sense to me and this week will prove the same as they blowout a pretty good West Virginia team and probably drop in the BCS rankings somehow.
Ole Miss (-2.5)- Tennessee's been playing good football recently but screw them, I still want baby Lane to lose every game by double digits. Put up 1 good game Jevan Snead, I think you have it in you.
Penn St. (-25)- Realllly didn't want to pick Penn St. this week but I'm staying true to my word with the every other week selection.
Michigan St. (+1)- This game's definitely going to be close as both teams are going to play it close to the vest and try to improve their bowl status. The Spartans will squeeze it out at the end because Purdue's isn't good enough to sweep the state of Michigan.
Missouri (+2)- Kansas St. won their Super Bowl last week by beating Kansas and are now prime fade material. Missouri's a good team and they'll pull the Wildcats back to Earth this weekend.
Arizona (-2)- This is a little payback for Cal being 1 of 2 teams to ruin my perfect week last week while Arizona came through with a big W.
South Carolina (+16)- Florida's O has been unimpressive lately and South Carolina plays really tough D at home. I don't think the Gamecocks have a good shot at winning but 16 seems like way too many points for Florida on the road against a good team right now.
Oklahoma (-17)- Did Oklahoma really lose to Nebraska last week? Did they really put up 3 points? They'll want to win by at least 100 this week.
Notre Dame (+6.5)- The Irish are going to win this game somehow. No explanations are necessary (or possible) to explain it but its going to happen.

THE BODOGS ARE BARKIN: Week 9 Picks
Another .500 week but I'm inching back toward Mikey. It's like match play in golf--if you're losing there's no need to press for a bunch of birdies. You just have to string together a bunch of pars and 90% of the time opponents will back up to you. Mikey's picking ability is not in the 10% I have to worry about.
Also, apologies for the picks coming a day late. Mikey's picks were late because he learned he'd just gotten a job. WeNeverGraduate congratulates Mikey and White Castle--they've picked up what certainly will be a perennial contender for employee of the month.
Mattare's Lock of the Week: Notre Dame (-11) over Navy
I really like Navy and I've picked them plenty of weeks this year...but unfortunately they're going to be the first team to experience the Golden-Floyd buzzsaw since Tate took "the leap." This will play out a lot like the 2005 game.
Temple -17...HOOOOOOT! Miami (OH) is really terrible. Really, REALLY terrible. (Ed. Note: Way to take the gas in the 4th quarter Owls)
Va Tech -13...Because I've gone one week in a row without a push.
Syracuse +21.5...Wannstadt's last chance to hurt Notre Dame. The reverse psychology has worked the last few weeks, we'll call on it one last time.
Georgia Tech -16...Wake Forest quarterback Riley Skinner is questionable and they're not particularly good at stopping the run. Bad news with the Wreck coming to town.
Army +17...This is a lot of points to give to the Cadets. I think this is an ugly, slow game that Air Force wins something like 20-9.
Kansas -2.5...Kansas has a good run defense. That's all K-State can do. K-State has a bad secondary. All Kansas can do is throw. I'll lay the 2.5 thank you very much.
South Carolina +7...If the Gamecocks can't cover this I'll officially be off the Spurrier bandwagon for the rest of the year.
Stanford +7...Oregon is ripe for a letdown. Stanford is a WAY tougher game than a lot of people realize.
Washington +5...Jake Locker is still the quarterback. I feel like UCLA is getting too much respect with this line even though they're at home.
Mikey's Lock of the Week: Indiana (+11) over Wisconsin
Indiana's going to be juiced for this one after all the close losses they've had this year. Not saying they're going to pull it out (cause they never do) but it'll come down to the wire.
Michigan (-4)- Rich Rodriguez is going to try and slaughter Purdue after the crappy run that Michigan's been on. Not sure if it will be up to him because both of these teams suck but won't be surprised if the Wolverines try and hang 80.
Ohio St. (+3.5)- A little payback for last year.
LSU (+10)- Too many points in such a big game. Alabama can't pass so LSU can focus on the run and keep it within striking distance until the end.
Cal (-6)- For Desean Jackson who's been incredible on all my fantasy teams this year.
Clemson (-8)- I love that Allstate commercial with the Bobby Bowden grill. I think that after Bobby steps down (or dies) at Florida St. he'll want to be made into a real life one, its the best possible path for the rest of his life.
Miami (-13)- When did Virginia start getting respect? The Canes are still one of the top teams in the country and they'll cruise to a big victory in this one.
Colorado (+4.5)- This one is going to be uuugly. Home field and points are an attractive option.
Arizona (-30.5)- Arizona are the Hawks and Washington St. are the Mighty Ducks (not the second meeting, the first one when the Hawks won by like 20 goals).
Stanford (+5)- Cannot believe I'm picking against Oregon after the way they shamed USC (and me) last week but my cousin works for the Stanford football team and says he's been slipping steroids into the players water all week. Roids never lose.
YEAR TO DATE STANDINGS
Mattare: 40 points...(5-5 last week, 1-0 lock...35-40-5 overall, 5-2-1 lock)
Mikey: 45 points...(3-6-1 last week, 0-1 lock...40-38-1 overall, 5-3 lock)

THE BODOGS ARE BARKIN: Week 8 Picks
So Week 7 was another failure, just a slightly smaller failure. I still didn't pick up any ground and I kept my staggering streak of weeks with at least one push going, but for the first time since week one we were both .500 or better with our picks. So we've got that going for us. Which is nice.
Did it make up for the fact that both of us went and saw our NFL teams get wrecked in person last weekend? No. We'd like to send special thanks to the Washington Redskins and Chicago Bears for taking the gas.
Mattare's Lock of the Week: Georgia Tech -12 over Vanderbilt
Vandy really isn't good and their 87th ranked run defense is toast against a team that averages 291 yards per game on the ground. Ramblin Wreck in a bloodbath.
Ole Miss -4...There's a serious freefall going on at Auburn right now. Houston Nutt teams play well with no expectations, terribly when the spotlight is on them. I don't see a spotlight anywhere.
Air Force -5...What makes Vegas think Colorado State can run with a team that took TCU and Utah to the brink?
South Carolina +5.5...Lane, meet the ol' Ball Coach. He's been known to be a pain in Rocky Top's ass.
Oklahoma State +8.5...The 'Pokes always play Texas tough. I'll take the points at home.
Kansas State +28...Not saying that K-State has a chance to pull the upset, but this is a lot of points to be giving a well-coached team.
Central Michigan +6...I've got a LeFevour...and the only prescription...is a Central Michigan cover
UCLA +10...This has letdown game written all over it for the Beavs.
Penn State -13.5...The Nittanys roll this week, setting up a showdown with the Buckeyes to figure out who's the second best team in America's worst major conference.
Miami -7...Wake is not a good defensive team...and they're not a good offensive team. Riley Skinner may be really accurate but you don't get points for a high completion percentage. The U in a route.
Mikey's Lock of the Week: USC (-3.5) over Oregon
The Trojans usually love a challenge and this will definitely be one against the Ducks. Their D rises up big and they smoke Oregon out of BCS title contention.
Wisconsin (-6.5)- It's getting really hard to keep watching Big 10 games every week, making picks isn't even helping anymore. How the hell did this conference get its own network??
Indiana (+17.5)- I've been all over Iowa all year but I think they'll take it easy this week against the Hoosiers. No need to waste energy on a team that blew a 20 point lead to Northwestern.
Auburn (+4.5)- Jevan Snead sucksssss. I won't be surprised when the Bears draft him.
Southern Miss (+7)- The Eagles don't get many chances to prove themselves with the schedule they play so they'll be juiced to play at Houston, maybe even take home a W.
Tulsa (-16.5)- There's about 3 games a year where Tulsa will just throw the ball 60 times and put up 80 points. I think this week we'll get one of those games at the expense of SMU.
Kansas (+7.5)- This game's going to go back and forth all day. It should be a high scoring affair and Tech will probably pull it out but Reesing to Briscoe will keep it close.
Penn St. (-13.5)- The Lions are 3-0 against the spread since I started picking them every other week. Don't stop believin.
Kentucky (-3)- UK's on a pretty good run right now and last week took all the energy and heart Miss St. had against Florida. They'll be wiped out and the Cats will run all over them.
South Carolina (+5.5)- Just hate Lane Kiffin, call this a spite pick.
YEAR TO DATE STANDINGS
Mattare: 34 points...(5-4-1 last week, 1-0 lock...30-35-5 overall, 4-2-1 lock)

THE BODOGS ARE BARKIN: Week 7 Picks
Mikey is actually picking well and essentially curb-stomping me. And I have as many pushes as wins. It's ridiculous. I'm speechless.
Mattare's Lock of the Week: Georgia Tech (-5.5) over Virginia
They're giving 5.5 to Virginia. Really? REAAAAALLY? I mean I know this is the annual Al Groh Lazarus Routine, but this is a ridiculous line.
South Florida +6.5...I want Pitt to win this game. Badly. I need them to be ranked in the top 15 when the Irish head to the Ketchup Bottle to play them in three weeks. I have ZERO faith the Wannstache delivers. Zero. Please prove me wrong.
Illinois +10...I just feel like Illinois is going to snatch up and win a game. Purdue is ripe for an emotional letdown. Arrelious Benn, you have 22 catches for 271 yards and zero touchdowns this year. Michael Floyd had more yards and four more touchdowns...in the first six quarters of the year. You're a moron.
Penn State -4.5...The streak finally ends. More on this game later this week.
Air Force +9.5...They hung with TCU, they can hang with Utah.
Florida -23...Florida won't take too kindly to losing the #1 spot to 'Bama. Time for a beatdown on both sides of the ball.
TCU -2.5...They absolutely smothered them last year. Get ready for the remix.
Texas Tech -21.5...This spread couldn't be high enough.
Idaho +15...Keep the dream alive Vandals!
UConn +7.5...I feel like this game should be taken off the board. Emotion rules the day--GO HUSKIES
Mikey's Lock of the Week: Syracuse (-10) over Akron
Akron's just a chance for Syracuse to feel good about their football program again, that's why they scheduled them. Does that make you a man Greg Paulus? The answer is no, no it doesn't. Just because your basketball game was modeled like mine (jack 3's with someone in your face) and you sucked at Duke doesn't mean you can make up for it by quarterbacking Syracuse over Akron. You're pathetic, go play volleyball at Colorado next you prick.
Army (+10.5)- Rutgers has been terrible most of the year. They don't have a QB and I don't think they'll be very motivated for this game making me believe that Army can cover the spread.
West Virginia (-6.5)- On the opposite side of you Matthew. I don't think UCONN is going to be focused at all on this game and will get blown out. Really tough week for Huskie nation.
Alabama (-16.5)- Tennessee won't get into Alabama territory in this game let alone attempt to get points. I think the Tide would beat Florida right now and they deserve to be #1 and will show it this week.
Cal (-34)- Cal will score 35 and Washington St. will score less than 0. That sounds like a win to me.
Iowa (-1)- Riding the Hawkeye train until it stops. Going to Michigan St. can't be as tough as going to Wisconsin so I think they'll make it happen again this week and move up the BCS ladder.
Missouri (+14.5)- Texas was very unimpressive last week as Oklahoma played most of the game without Bradford and still should've won. Missouri's a solid club and I think they give Texas a big run for their money and may even win.
Florida St. (+2)- The Noles can beat and lose to anyone in the country depending on how Bobby Bowden's osteoporosis is acting that week. I think he's got it under control this week, lookout Heels.
Kansas St. (-3.5)- Colorado has no chance of putting together back to back wins in football, they're more of a volleyball school. I think Kansas St. knocks off the Buffs in a big way.
Oregon (-7)- Everyone seems to be betting on Washington. That's usually a good sign to pick the other guy.
YEAR TO DATE STANDINGS

THE BODOGS ARE BARKIN: Week 6 Picks
I'm in South Bend and I have no desire to say anything witty other than we're going to abuse the Trojans on the field tomorrow.
Mattare's Lock of the Week: Texas (-3) over Oklahoma
Why is this spread so close? I'm rooting for Oklahoma so some ridiculuos scenario where Notre Dame can sneak into the national championship happens, but jeez this is ridiculous on a neutral field.
Rutgers +4...because Wannstadt will lay an egg whenever I want him to win.
Ohio St (-13.5)...because Terrelle Pryor is gonna a touchdown for every baby momma he has.
Army (+10)...because we are an Army of ONE.
Notre Dame (+11)...because I BELIEVE.
Georgia Tech (+3)...because Va Tech can't stop the run.
Kentucky (+13)...because there was someone at the airport waiting to boo Gene Chizik when he was hired.
South Carolina (+17)...because the Ol' Ball Coach won't get blown out here.
Stanford (+4.5)...because the Fighting Jim Harbaugh won't be denied
Navy (-8)...because I have a man-crush on Ricky Dobbs
Mikey's Lock of the Week: Notre Dame (+11) over Southern Cal
"People say bet with your head and not with your heart. Nuts to that, this is a big heart pick and it's going to happen."
Connecticut (-12.5)...The Huskies are a pretty good football team and should've won at Pitt last week. Louisville on the other hand may need to drop their football program to pay bail for the basketball team. I see a blowout.
Texas (-3)...R-E-S-P-E-C-T. That's what Texas is finally going to get after they run over the Sooners.
Georgia (-8)...Really just hoping that Georgia can score because its a fact that Vanderbilt can't.
Penn St. (-14.5)...Staying true to picking Penn St. every other week. Minnesota could give them a game though so won't be surprised if the Lions don't cover.
Maryland (+4)...The winner of this game is still alive for a berth in the EagleBank Bowl. There will be blood.
Virginia Tech (-3)...Georgia Tech was involved in a huge shootout last week with Florida St. and I think they'll be drained for this game. Va Tech rolled last week and will go down to Atlanta and do the same again.
Cincinnati (-1)...I realllly want UC and Boise to go undefeated and make the BCS eat yet another shit sandwich this year. If they can get this one at South Florida, UC has a legitimate argument for the title game if they stay unbeaten.
Ohio St. (-13.5)...See: Week 5 picks
UCLA (+3)...Don't like Cal on the road in a conference rivalry game. UCLA had a chance to take down Oregon last week and gave it away, this week I think they'll bring it home.
Bonus Pick: Xavier (-3)...Football's coming back in a big way to X and this week they have Southern Illinois. Roger Bacon High School will host the matchup between the two club teams and I believe there are tickets still available.

THE BODOGS ARE BARKIN: Week 5 Picks
Up is down, right is left, white is black, Mikey is above .500 in his picks...what the hell is going on with this world?
Mattare's Lock of the Week: TCU (-10) over Air Force
TCU gives up 47 yards per game on the ground. Air Force runs for 291 a game. I think that TCU has proven that the immovable object is always going to win out in the MWC.
Michigan State -4...There is a giant fork sticking out of Ron Zook's back. A new quarterback isn't going to save this season--Michigan State comes in riding high after a big overtime victory and adds to Illinois' misery.
Arkansas (+2.5)...Petrino is a terrible person but a helluva coach. Find a way to win this game and I'll officially believe Mr. Chizik. PIIIIIIG, SOOOEEYYYY!
Boston College (+13.5)...This just has the feeling of a 20-10 game.
Georgia (+1.5)...Georgia should feel totally disrespected by this line. They would've beaten the #4 team in the country last week had it not been for a terrible call and they're facing a quarterback that makes Jake Delhomme look like a good decision-maker.
Navy (-11.5)...Rice has a bad, bad defense. Good luck stopping Ricky Dobbs.
Florida St (-3)...Mega-rally for Bobby Bowden.
LSU (+7.5)...They're getting more than a touchdown in Death Valley...at night...where they haven't lost since Nagano. Yeah, I'll take those points.
Washington (+3)...Count me very impressed with Sarkisian/Locker/U-Dub. Where are the people saying that Sark is winning with Ty's recruits though? The Molder BUILT THIS TEAM!
Iowa (-7.5)...Time to watch the house of cards fall apart in Ann Arbor.
Mikey's Lock of the Week: Arkansas (+2.5) over Auburn
Really seeing a letdown game for Auburn in a tough spot at Arkansas. I think Mallet can put up points and Petrino's going to start catching some heat if they don't win one like this.
Ole Miss (+5.5)...This one's going to be a classic. Bama's offense definitely won't blow out Ole Miss but they're defense won't let Jevan Snead score very much either. I'm going to start watching SEC football exclusively, no other conference comes close to touching it.
Ohio St. (-16)...Ohio St. does the same routine every season. They lose to a big team early, dominate Big 10 teams and get back into the top 10 somehow, play Michigan in primetime and smoke them, and then get into the BCS and lose. Wisconsin falls in just after the first comma in this plan.
Wake Forest (-11)...Maryland's really bad and Wake can't afford to drop a game like this. The Deacons will get up big early and stay there until the end.
Texas (-31.5)...Last week against West Virginia was probably the best game Colorado will play all year, that's how bad they are. Texas' offense will put up 60 in this game and Colorado's turnovers might reach double digits, good recipe for a blowout.
Florida (-7.5)...What will be written about Tim Tebow after he wins this one? Will he win the Nobel Peace Prize? Be named the next pope? Go on Price is Right and win BOTH showcases? Who cares, please graduate Tim.
Georgia Tech (+2.5)...I can't wait to hear what Bobby Bowden has to say when the Noles lose this one.
Iowa (-7.5)...Iowa's going to use this game to get into the BCS hunt, Michigan will be slaughtered.
Hawaii (+8)...The Warriors getting points at home?? Child please.
Purdue (+4)...Another ridiculously bad Big 10 game that will probably be on ESPN when you wake up. The only way I can watch it is if I pick it.
YEAR TO DATE STANDINGS
Mattare: 20 points...(4-5-1 last week, 1-0 lock...17-21-2 overall, 3-1 lock)

THE BODOGS ARE BARKIN: Week 4 Picks
Mikey has jumped out to a lead through three weeks. To put this in perspective think of this as when Ted Ginn ran back the opening kick of the National Championship game against Florida. We all know what happens next...
Don't call it a comeback.
Mattare's Lock of the Week: Ole Miss (-8.5) over Vanderbilt
Ole Miss isn't as bad as they looked last week--with one performance they've gone from totally overrated to underrated thanks to a media avalanche of hate. Houston Nutt is a terrible coach when there are heightened expectations, a very good coach when there aren't. They'll be out for blood which is bad news for Vandy.
Michigan +2....I really don't think Michigan is any good. This is just a testament to how crappy Michigan State is. My only hesitation is the fact that this isn't played in the Big House, which means Michigan actually has to play 11-on-11 without the refs giving them four game-deciding calls.
South Florida -6.5....Syracuse is being shown a little too much respect with this line.
UCLA +5....I think this is going to be a dogfight. Give me those points.
NC State +1....At least once a week I wonder what happened to Chuck Amato and his gigantic chest.
Navy -3....I'll ride Navy all year if they keep feeding me these lines. Anchors aweigh my boys.
Georgia Tech -5.5....Remind me I'm an idiot for picking an ACC team on the road against an SEC team.
Arkansas PK....Consider me not even remotely impressed with Texas A&M. Kyle Field used to be one of the most feared places to play. Not with Mike Sherman at the helm though...
Tennessee -2....I just can't believe that Gene Chizik is for real. Kiffin & Kiffin ride the running game against Auburn's 81st ranked rush defense and a lockdown defense to a W.
Washington State +32.5....That's just too much to be giving to the spunky Cougs.
Mikey's Lock of the Week: Purdue (-6.5) over Northwestern
Purdue's playing Northwestern...the end.
Duke +15.5…I've picked the Dukies 3 times this year...in football...guess I should stop complaining when I lose.
LSU +1…Couldn't believe the Tigers were getting points when I saw this line. Georgia's offense is good but their defense is worse than the French Army, look for LSU to control clock and win easy.
Penn State -6…I'll be picking Penn St. every other week from here on in. Let's see how it works out.
Washington +14…Just really don't like the injuries that ND has suffered and the terrible game that Washington played last week will have them focused for this one.
Indiana +17.5…If you watched Indiana-Michigan last week its easy to see that Rich Rodriguez is giving half his salary to the refs of the Big Ten. Indiana should've easily won that game and I think they'll be fired up to prove it wasn't a fluke when Ohio St. comes in.
Auburn +2…This is more of "I hope Lane Kiffin gets fired in year 1" pick than anything else. Auburn's got a solid team though so hopefully they can stick it to Kiffin and son up in Rocky Top.
Miami +6.5…Still love the U even after the slap they received last week. If they win this game they should be in the top 5 IMO because of the wins they have and losing in a hurricane at Va Tech is something every other team in the country would've done too.
Cal +6.5…I think alot of pressure is off of Cal for this game now that they've lost already. If they were undefeated going in I don't think they'd have a shot but now I see it coming right down to the wire.
Colorado +17…They're aren't enough strippers in West Virginia to distract the Buffaloes in this one!!!
YEAR TO DATE STANDINGS
Mattare: 15 points...(4-5-1 last week, 1-0 lock...13-16-1 overall, 2-1 lock)

THE BODOGS ARE BARKIN: Week 3 Picks
Another terrible week for both of us last week, but the Sloth of Schnecksville has nudged ahead in the standings. Time for a rebound...with lengthened analysis!
Florida State (-14)...Matt Groethe is out for the year. The Criminoles are fast. Christian Ponder is Smart. Bobby Bowden is old. It's science.
Virginia Tech (+3)...Hokies a home dog? Really?
Colorado St (+17)...People are sleeping on the Rams too much--only lost to the Cougs by 3 last year. BYU could not be more deflated right now.
Texas Tech (+1)...I just can't take Houston seriously yet. I'm going to choose the team led by the coach that thinks he's a pirate.
Washington State (+45)...USC only scored more than 45 points period twice in their last fifteen games. Once was against Wazzou (69-0), but still.
Mikey's Lock of the Week: Temple (-2.5) over Buffalo
"Yeah, you read it right."
The Other Nine:
Ole Miss (-4.5)- If you haven't already, go bet your next 10 years salaries on Ole Miss. You won't regret it.
Minnesota (PK)- I've watched Brett Basanez (a Northwestern alum) play all preseason for the Bears. If they're still producing players with his talent level Minnesota is the easiest pick this century.
Michigan St. (+2.5)- Just my opinion but Wisconsin sucksss this year.
Ohio St. (-14)- Arrelious Benn might pull a Randy Moss and walk off the field during this game at some point.
Miami (-3)- Like I said last week Miami's winning the ACC. Can't do it unless they get this one so that's all the reasoning I need.
Kentucky (+23)- Since coming to northern Kentucky (aka Cincinnati) I've seen alot of things UK. They're building one underrated football program down there and I think they'll use this game as motivation to prove that. Look for Trevard Lindley to pick Tim "call me Timothy" Tebow at least once.
Iowa (+10)- Just trying to make the loss doubly hard on Billy.
Stanford (-7)- Washington will beat USC and lose to Satnford in consecutive weeks. Good luck explaining that to the AD Steve Sarkisian.
South Florida (+14)- Only reason I like this is I see a big letdown for Florida St. The bulls just lost their senior QB for the year so I advise nobody to follow this one.

Mattare's Lock of the Week: Boise State (-16.5) over Bowling Green
Boise State is just a well-oiled machine that has kicked their offense into high gear. They rolled through Fresno and if anyone thinks Bowling Green will stop them think again.
The Other Nine:
South Carolina (+4.5)...Spurrier still terrorizes the schools he used to own (since arriving he's knocked off Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Florida when they were ranked top 15) he just doesn't hang 60 on them like he used to.

Cal (-5.5)...Oregon just isn't very good. We can only hope the Ducks' new starting running back goes Wayne Brady on his own fans.

THE BODOGS ARE BARKIN: Week 2 Picks
Week one is in the books--a pretty unspectacular start. Mikey won more games than he lost for the week, which means it's the first time he's ever not lost money for a week. So he's got that going for him...which is nice. But he still didn't win anything. Baby steps I suppose.
Mattare's Lock of the Week: Florida (-29.5) over Tennessee
Little Lane is in so far over his head he won't even know what to do. I can imagine them playing a clip of Lane Kiffin guaranteeing victory over the Gators on the jumbotron every time the Florida defense takes the field. Urban Meyer is the same guy that called a field goal late in the UF-Miami game last year to kick an "F-YOU" field goal; it's going to be a bloodbath in The Swamp.
The Other Nine:
Eastern Michigan (+24)...Toledo (+20.5)...Colorado (-7)
Virginia (+15.5)...Navy (+7.5)...Northwestern (-3)
Colorado State (+3)...Florida State (+7.5)...Maryland (-6)
Mikey's Lock of the Week: Miami (-4) over Georgia Tech
"I think the U is an easy pick in this one. Randy Shannon and Jacory Harris are going to win the ACC this year (book it) and they might even hit up the BCS bash now that a couple teams have already lost. Look for a big party on the 7th floor tonight in Miami."
The Other Nine:
Kentucky (-10)...Penn State (-29.5)...Duke (+19)
Oklahoma (-15)...Notre Dame (-11.5)...Arizona (+5)
Nevada (-3)...Cincinnati (+2.5)...Mississippi State (+8.5)
YEAR TO DATE STANDINGS

THE BODOGS ARE BARKIN: Week 1 Picks

The dawn of football season also means the start of another year of parlays, teasers, and backdoor covers. Since I’d feel bad taking advantage of someone as clueless as Billy I have enlisted my fellow degenerate gambler Mikey for a weekly picks column during the season. My only introduction for him is that he beat Billy in the basketball game 50 twice in one night (which is essentially 21 or Hustle…whatever you call it in your part of the country)…and it wasn’t even close. I mean he took him behind the woodshed. I can also tell you this bothers Billy to this day even though it’s probably been close to a year since he’s touched a basketball. When Mikey joined our dynasty fantasy football league this was the intro Billy gave him:
“Everyone got an email with a rough introduction of Mike. I’m going to tell you a little more about him. Michael is North American scum. Every time your mind or body does something, especially on the fly, you're one up on Mikey. Like if somebody throws a lucky charm at you, and you duck, +1 you. If you ever looked at Magic Eye as a kid and you saw the picture pop out, another victory. And I would never in a thousand years ever, ever, ever lose to Mikey in 50 again.”
Nothing more really needs to be said…other than a reiteration that Mikey whooped Billy in 50. Badly. More than once. With many witnesses.
Back to gambling—the way we run it is we pick ten college games a week. We pick each of the games on our own so some may overlap, most will not. Each game is worth 1pt and one game is declared a lock and is worth 2pts. Each point is a set dollar value (in our case $5). We’ll update the standings week to week and if you care at all you can figure out the money that’s exchanged. I'm not going to post it because I want Mikey to be blindsided by the debt at the end of the year.
Mattare’s Lock of the Week: Navy (-7.5) over Louisiana Tech
Navy has one of the best rushing attacks in the country and their most dynamic quarterback since Chris McCoy in the mid-90’s. Louisiana Tech gave up 301 rushing yards last week. Yikes.
The Other Nine:
North Carolina (-4)...South Carolina (+8) ...Duke (-1)
Notre Dame (-3)...Mississippi St (+14)...UCLA (+10)
Air Force (+3.5)...Indiana (-1)...Colorado (-4)
Mikey's Lock of the Week: North Carolina (-4) over UConn
"Not really sure why I made UNC my lock, I actually think this game is going to be pretty close. Maybe its because I won 35% of my college games last year or maybe its just the unbelievable confidence I have in Butch Davis when he's not on the Browns. Either way I advise everyone else to bet on UCONN."
The Other Nine:
South Carolina (+8)...Duke (-1)...Notre Dame (-3)
Iowa (-7)...Tennessee (-10)...East Carolina (+6.5)
Houston (+16)...LSU (-12)...Ohio St (+7)
